The 16th European Film Festival organised by Italian Embassy will take place in Yangon (Nay Pyi Daw Cinema) from June 16 to 19 . Tickets are available free at embassies. The shows are from 15 to 18 hours local time.

This is scene of a vegetable shop in a market. Vegetables in packets can be seen in super markets recently. But they are a little expensive than ordinary markets. Most house wives in Myanmar do the shopping in ordinary wet markets.

It is the rainy season now. Lotus flowers can be seen blooming in pools as they are full of water. It is very pleasant to see the flowers at roadside in the outskirts of the city. They are the most famous flower in Myamar. They are said not to grow in dirty water.

You can eat tender kernel of a coconut. Coconut milk is also delicious. It costs K400 per coconut.

Coconut jaggery, a snack made of coconut and sesame is different from ordinary jaggery and gives great taste. It is famous as a regional product from Karen and Mon States.

An Ikebana Exhibition jointly sponsored by Japan Foundation and Japanese Embass will be held at Nikko Hotel on May 31. The demonstration will be from 10:00 to 12:00 and there will a workshop from 14:00 to 16:30. Tickets are available at Japanese Embassy.

Schools open at the begining of June. Lovely school uniforms are on sale here and there.Prices differ according to the kind of cloth. School children are looking forward to opening of schools.

Lovely hamsters are easy to keep as a pet. They can be seen being carried around. Keeping of the animals imported from Thailand is in vogue among youngsters. Prices range from K 20000 and above.

Air Bagan is launching international flights. It will start flights between Yangon and Bangogk on May 15. Yangon-Bangogk flight W9-603 leaves Yangon at 7:30 and arrives in Bangogk at 9:10. Bangogk W9-604 leaves Bangogk at 10:10 and arrives in Yangon at 10:45. Newly imported Air Bus A-130 aircraft will be used for this route.

Horticulture Show (has kicked) off on May 5. Prize winning fruits, flowers and trees as well as various kinds of trees are on display. Moreover, visitors can get a chance to buy flowers, seeds, fertilizers and pesticides of their choice at the show. It has been held in Myaebadetharkyunn,Bahan Township.
