A painting was drawn by a Japanese soldier at a battle field in Myanmar during the war. It was sent as postcards to his family in Japan. Ms. Ishizuka, a grandchild of the soldier, produced an audio CD "Letter from Burma" with inspiration fron the postcards.

You can go on trekking on the back of an elephant on your way to Ngwe Hsaung from Pahtein. Some elephants are over 60 years old. It takes about 20 minutes to go around the narrow path on the sides of mountains densely covered with trees.

A large number of European tourists visit Ngwe Hsaung Beach. Transportation has become much easier because the bridge on the way has been finished. The beach can be reached via Pathein, which is accessible by air from Yangon. Hotel construction projects has taken off.

These are pavilions built for Thingyan (Water Festival) at Ngapali Beach. Younger sets collectively celebrated Water Festival to mark New Year.

Temporary pavilions for water Festival have been constructed in several places in Yangon. Arrangements are underway in Mandalay to hold a joint-water festival in which Thailand, Myanmar and Laos will participate. Therefore, water festival in Mandalay will be busier than the festival in Yangon.

Padauk (gurn-kino) flowers have been in full bloom at last. A lot of women can be seen wearing the flowers. The whole city is overwhelmed by the fragrance of them.

Ngu flowers (Indian Laburnum), the second symbol of water festival, are now in full bloom although Padauk (gurn-kino) flowers are late.

It rained in Yangon yesterday. It was the first rain to come during six month period. And it also rained this morning.

The Padauk Flowers ( gurn-kino ) which represent Myanmar haven't bloomed yet this year. They may be late to bloom due to late rain.
