Although uniforms of European football clubs were popular in Yangon, sales of uniforms of England Football team have increased after Euro 2004 football championships has started. Two colours- white and red are available. K 3500 for Thailand-made wear, K 2000 for China-made wear.

Myanmar coffee famous as gift from Myanmar. Although it is on sale with various brand, I have seen sale of coffee in such a fine packing only this time. A packret of 200g costs 800 kyats.

Yangon City Development Committee has prescribed 102 buildings in Yangon as historic ones. Some of them are City Hall, Bogyoke Market, American Embassy, British Embassy, High Court , Central Post Office, Yangon General Hospital, etc.

Shan rice is available at the shop opened by agriculture department. We have been eating Shan rice of different brands. But, this brand if rice is almost the same as Japanese rice. It is tasty for Japanese people. It is available at the shops in front of Japanese Embassy and at 9 mile on Pyay Road.

We came across an ice-cream shop which sells very tasty ice-cream in China town. About 20 kinds of home-made ice-cream, hand-made cone and crepe are available at the shop. The snake in the picture is called "Nhet Pyaw Thee Hlay (banana boat)" and it costs K750. As far as my knowledge goes, the shop is the tip-top ice-cream shop in Yangon.

Qualifiers for Myanmar-Japan Boxing friendly matches were held at Thuwunna Stadium on June 12 and 13. The friendly matches will be held on July 10 and 11. Defending champion Shwe Saing knocked out ex-champion Wun Chaing at one minute and fifty-two seconds in the third round. It has become more difficult to be selected for the final stage matches.

You can take a ride on the back of an elephant in the zoo in Yangon. It takes about three minutes to go around the no-so-wide garden and it costs K 500 per ride.

Euro 2004 championships has started. The football matches are broadcast live on MRTV. They start at 22:30, 25:15 hours Myanmar standard time respectively. A lot of fans are in front of televisions although it is after mid-night. Rousing applaud and noises come out whenever a player scores a goal. If you look out through the widow, you will see the light is on at almost every house. There are restaurants on the second floor of the building where our office is located. The footballs matches are shown free of charge at the restaurants. The matches of respective days can be seen on the notice board at the entrance of the first floor.

Novitiation ceremony we saw in Pyin Oo Lwin. One of Buddha's Birth story__ a Bramin taking away the Buddha-to-be' s son and daughter drawing with a rope after receiving them as donation from him__ was included in the procession. I think the well-wishers who held the ceremony wanted to show their generosity compared with Buddha-to-be.

The novitiation ceremony which we came across in Pyin Oo Lwin. We have never seen such ceremony before. Girls carrying the betel offertory, belles carrying flower offertory, people in coustumes of olden days, novies-to-be on horse back and in cars were in procession.

Version 4 of Win Myanmar font which has already gained popularity will be on sale soon. Word, Excel programmes can be used in Myanmar Language. Menu, Window, desktop are made in Myanmar language. File names and folder names will be saved in Myanmar language. The programme will include 80 kinds of fonts. Variable names, procedure and functions can be named in Myanmar language for programming languages such as VB, C++ etc.

Durians are sold like hot cakes at present. A Myanmar durian costs from K 300-800. A durian from Thailand from K 4,000-5,000. But, pineapples sell a little. The best sold durians are those which are grown from the seed imported from Thailand.

Wisky and consumer goods, producers have launched advertising campaign in line with Euro 2004 Football Championship. Sales of satellite antennas and accessories have suddenly increased.

Football star Beckham is very popular in Japan as well as in Myanmar.On a horse cart in Bagan, the portrait of Beckham is drawn and the cart is name after him "Backham Cart."

The use of internet has been widespread in Yangon. Chatting is popular among youths. They take a lot of interest in the chat which allows to take people unknown and allow to use Myanmar language written with English letter.

Primary, middle and high schools all over Myanmar were opened for this academic year on June 6, 2004. Traffic jams have started in front of the famous schools.

Mangoes have come into season. There are rows of stalls which sell mangoes on the motor way between Mandalay and Pyin Oo Lwin. Seintalone mangoes which are famouse for sweet taste were on sale there. It costs K 70 a mango.
