Korean drama movies are broadcast on television in Myanmar. People enjoy watching any such movies. At the Trade Fair held the other day, been people thronged at the booth, in front of which Korean movies were being shown on TV.

The first Korean Trade Fair was held at Yangon Trade Centre. The booths where recently manufactured domestic electrical appliances were on display was thronged with visitors. The places people took interest most were the booths where VCDs of Korean drama movies were sold.

The 117-year old Cathedral of the Holy Trinity near Bogyoke Aung San Market is under renovation. The project will cost Kyat 20 millions and will finish in January 2004.

An Indian restraunt called Shanti opened on Kabaaye Pagoda Road. It costs 2900 Kyats for lunch or dinner to have one's fill. It is stylistic place with beautiful inner decoration.

Inya Lake, an artificial lake, is located between Pyay Road and Kaba Aye Pagoda Road. The side of Pyay Road is famous as a dating place. But, the place is teeming with not only couples but also families and groups of youths starting from 3:30 in the afternoon. Kaba Aye side of the lake got a face light recently growinggrass, placing benches and erecting parasols. More people including couples can be seen on the newly renovated bank of the lake these days.

Thai Trade Fair was held at Yangon Trade Centre for three days lat week. Most ofitems on display were mommon ones which we can see in town. Thai products are generalized. Products were on sale at discount. A lot of people visited the fair and bought things.

The football matches were the most popular among the audience at the Sea Games held in Vietnam. The matches were broadcast live on MRTV. We can hear loud voicesof the audience in front of TV at daytime. People were watching TV during office hour at the wholesale centre at the building where our office is located. Woman football team of Myanmar stood second and man team stood fourth.

A Japanese girl (Sandar Lin by Myanmar name) first sang on Yangon City FM Radio as a Japanese. She is attending University of Foreign Languages in Yangon. She took part in the programme for new generation singers with the song Lwan La (Do you miss me?) of famous singer Chaw Su Khin. Recording of the programme finished this week and it will be on air at 10:00 hours (Myanmar standard time) on December 23, 25, and 27. Hotels are making preparations for Christmas celebration putting up X'mas trees as it comes into December. Christmas was celebrated only at some hotels of foreign investment in the past. Selling of cards in the city and holding functions ofChristmas, I think, have become regular activities here. In the photo, you can see lighting ceremony at Inya Lake Hotel.

A Korean dance show sponsored by Korean Embassy was held at the National Theatre for two days from December 5 to 6. The dance troupe, Didim, was headed by Mr. Kook, Soo-Ho who was director and choreographer of the opening ceremonies of 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup. High lights of the show were drum and dance, Korean traditional music and dances. The theatre was full of audiences.

A charity bazaar was held at the residence of British diplomats in Yangon on December 6. The bazaar was teeming with people and stalls of NGOs of other countries. People played games and tried their luck in lucky draw programes.

Flight of Thai Airways between Yangon and Bangkok and flight of PB Air between Bangkok and Bagan have started. It has become more convenient to come to Myanmar. But, plan of United Air Myanmar to start operations seems to be late. Staff of the airway have started work at their office. Seats for flights of Thai Air ways and Myanmar Airways between Yangon and Bangkok are fully reserved. Therefore, we expect United Air Myanmar to start its operation soon.

Apples are available in abundance in Yangon this year. The fruit comes from Bhamo, Muse, Chin State and China. As you can see in the photo, they are sold at roadside stalls. A good apple can cost only 150 Kyats this year. Price of apples has gone down this year. It cost 500 Kyats an apple in the past.

All of credit cards are difficult to be used in Myanmar at present. Moreover, the amount of money are also limited. It with be more convenient if visitors bring cash in US dollors.

Thamanya Sayadaw passed away at 9 o'clock in the morning on November 29. The Sayadaw was 93 years old. How many people can tell exactly of oneself when he (or) she will pass away. Under the patronage the Sayadaw, Thamanya region can be turned as a peaceful region. Most of the people in the region relied on the Sayadaw taking shelter under reputation him. After demise of the Sayadaw, people are worried about successor of the Sayadaw who will take the position of the Sayadaw.
