It is a high-class condominium built by a Japanese company. The rent of flats in the building is very high. Forty percent of the apartments are occupied. About half of the residents are Japanese. The flats ranges from 3 LDK to 1LDK. The rent of a 3 LDK flat is US $ 2500 per month. It is out of reach for ordinary people. It is a high-class building as status of a high-class hotel that has swimming pool, fitness center, sanitary service and security service.

This is a vase made of Thitmin (the dammar pine). Thitmin means the king of wood. Myanmar believe that bad wood (making sounds of wood in night times) brings bad luck to the dewellers at a house built of wood. If a vase made of Thitmin averts danger. It is the most available in Putao, Kachin State. A vase sells for K 300.

Khaung Ye (fermented rice wine) from Kachin State is available at Kaba Thit restaurant on U Chit Maung Road near Yankin Centre in Yangon. It costs 90 kyats a bottle.

This is New Super Mandalar Jeep.The whole body is made of local products. Other engine and accessories are imported from Japan. Super Mandalar Jeep sells for K 4.8 million and Shan Star Jeep for K 7.5 million.

Radish is rather small in Myanmar. It is really a word of praise if one calls radish leg.I once saw big radish in Taunggyi, Shan State. To compare the radish I saw in the market with the one I saw in Taunggyi, former is rather small. But,I remember radish from Japan.

When I took a walk early in the morning the other day, I saw pink gladiola in the market. They were very beautiful going well with the white wall when I arranged them in a vase. The woman who sold flowers said that they are call Madona.

This is a pagoda that is not included in guide-books. It is located in North Okkalapa near the airport. There is a monastery where foreign languages are taught free of charge beside the pagoda. I often visit the pagoda when I go to the monastery to teach Japanese language as a volunteer teacher on Sundays. Inner designs are very beautiful. As we can see, outer part of the pagoda looks sublime with golden colour.

It is a shop in Bogalay Zay Street that sells used computers. Parts from various countries are put together. They sell computer after up grading them.The computer I bought the other day cost 150,000 K. Gurantee is for one month. Services are being rendered for recyled electrical appliances in Japan. Things that can be used again have become more. Myanmar is senior to other countries in this fact.From electrical appliances and cars to plastic containers are recycled here. Recycling is not strange for Myanmar.

FM-89 has extended its programmes from 8a.m to noon in the morning and from 2 p.m to 6 p.m in the afternoon. And there are also radio commmercial programmes. Advertising cost range from 1200K per ten seconds to 3000K per one minute in golden time. It costs from 1000K per ten seconds to 2000K per one minute at regular hours.

This is an actress called Myo Thanda Tun. She seems to be over thirty years old. Although she is not wearing make-up she looks elegant and lovely. She acted in the movie "Thwe" jointly directed by Myanmar and Japanese teams. But, it still remains unfinished due to financial difficulty. I want them to continue shooting it and finish it. I would like to let Japanese people know her beauty. She came to the academy award distribution ceremony together with her nine-year old son.She won the best actress award. She posed for this photograph wearing a smile. We feel she is very gentle.

I visited the house of my accquaintance in Dedaye, Ayeyawady Division. He is doing business of selling and buying much room keeping eyes on demand of muchroom. Now, he is building a house for his parents because his business is successful.

This is a place where creepers are clinging. You can feel history here. This building was used by Japanese army during second world war. Now, it is a hostel for students from other cities who attend Yangon university. The room with creepers clinging was used by Japanese soldiers.

Prices of cellular phones are going up here in Myanmar. There are three kinds of phones in Myanmar. Ordinary phones are called line phones. Cordless phones which can be carried in a basket are called basket phones. Cellular phones are the most popular. It generally costs over 4 million kyats. That amount of money can buy a house in suburb of Yangon. Will you buy a house or a phone.

The best actress award Myo Thanda Tun .
The best supporting actor award Aung Khaing.

This is the scaled model of Hanthawadi International Airport under construction near Bago, 50 miles (80 kilo) north of Yangon. On completion of the project, it will be able to handle 30 million travellers yearly.

There are many strange pagodas and Buddha images which are not included in guide-books. This image called Shwemyethman wearing spectacles is in Shwedaung near Pyay. Shwemyethman means golden spectacles. People with poor eyesight and eye diseases usually visit the image.

Happy New Year!
There is no special holiday for new year celebration in Myanmar. Companies and shops open as usual. New year of Myanmar is in April when it is very hot. Thingyan Pwe (Water Festival) is held as new year celebration.
