The 10 story building constructed by Shin Construction Group is almost finished. There are two elevateor and there are four flats on each floor. There are three bed-room, living room, kitchen and two water closets in each flat. It cost 14milion Kyats(US$40,000).

On 28th December, Academy Award presenting ceremony of Myanmar motion picture took place at Thuwunna Stadium at 5pm. The ceremony was held for 1999. The prizes were chosen from movies played in 1999.

There will be a market festival at Bogyoke Market from 29 December to January to mark 75th anniversary. There will be Karaoke shows at the festival. Now 4days to go to 21 century. It is so crowded that there is no space to park there.

Myanmar Academy award presenting ceremony which is the last event in 20 century is drawing tomorrow. The ceremony will be taken place at Thuwunna Stadium on 28 December. THe best movie award, the best director award, the best actor and actress award will be presented. The actor Lwin Moe has been said to win the award since 3 or 4 years ago. But, he still does not get any award. The actress Myo Thanda Tun is said to win the best actress award.

New shop opened in Yangon besides Asia Royal Hospital in Shan Road. Name is Kingyo, it is branch of Mandalay branch. Everyday so crowded of family and couple. They serve BBQ meats and vegitables.

Merry Christmas, although Myanmar is a Buddhist country, there are large churches in downtown area. St.Mary Church at the back of Bogyoke market and St.Paul Church on Bogyoke Aung Sun Road are more famous. Most of Karen and Chin national races belive in Christianity.

I went to a monkey show at Botahtaung Pagoda Festival. There were all thogether nine monlkeys, a bear and nine snales at the show. THey came from Hlaing Thaya, a satellite town. They earn 8000 Kyats nightly.

Asia Royal Medicare Center is located opposite of Sakura Hospital on Baho Road. Beside the center, there is a Mandalay style grilled-meat shop. There is also a such kind of shop in 19th street. But, men frequent this shop. So, the mandalay style shop is better for lovers and family. The shop is air-conditioned, but customers like to sit out side the shop.

I came across the most famous actor Kyaw Hein uncle of No.1 actor Dwe and Eindra Kyaw Zin, a commercial star. They are in the middle of a shooting, but they willingly allowed having their photo taken.

I went to KMD company at the back of Strand Hotel to buy a computer set (Celeron 600MHz, Memory 125MB, HD 10GB, CD, Speaker, Monitor 17inch). On the second floor of the old building in Seik Kantha Street, personal computer sets are sold. The third floor is computer-training center and there are five class rooms. It costs 7000 kyats for a two-month course.

When I suddenly look at it without having any idea what it was. It was a magnificent golden door. There is a building to the left of the corner of Sule Pagoda Road and Strand Road. I think it was build over 50 years ago. The door was opened and it seemed to have been decorated in inner part of the building.

There is a branch shop of "Danu Byu Daw Saw Yee" the famous Myanmar rice shop located in Myaynigone. According to the owner Daw Saw Yi, the shop has extended gradually to six branch shops from a status she had no own place and had to deliver food in tiffin carriers. This is because of the food is very cheap and delicious.

Now, it is cold season in Myanmar. This is the most comfortable time to live for it is cool. There are plenty of Chinese apples at the fruit shops at the street corners. Recently, we could see bigger apples. Apple is called "Pan The" in Myanmar. It literally means "the fruit of flower". Watermelon, summer fruit and apples, cold season food, come into season at the same time. It is a common seen in Myanmar.

Christmas proposal from Strand Hotel got to our company the other day. It was sent in person by two staff from Express Service in 8th street. The company is rendering delivery service in short time for the place in downtown. They charge for the delivery in Foreign Exchange Certificate.

There was Botahtaung Pagoda festival the other day. There was traffic jam on Pagoda Road. It was crowded with people on both sides. There ware also many roadside shops. The festival was very busy till mid night. There were merry-go-rounds, magic shows, gift shops, restaurants and poster shops. The strange thing was that I saw a picture of Jesus among the pictures of Buddha.

Myanmar Traditional Boxing Tournament will be held at Thuwunna Stadium from 9-10 December. But most famous boxer Wan Chaing will not join with this tournament.

The cold seasons comes, it gets colder in the morning and evening. But when I goout in the afternoon, it is very hot. It is better to put on long sleeve shirt in the morning.

Japanese Language Book Fair was held at Yangon University of Foreign Language from 4-6 November. The books were donated to the University by Tokyo Foundation. The books will be kept at the library of the universities.

Myanmar Traditional Dress Exhibition will be held at National Museum on 15 December. It will last for one month. It is the first of its kind organized by Ministry of Culture.

I went to Taunggyi to attend a wedding reception of my friend held there. The people there put on sweaters and warm cloths for temperature of the town is low. When I took a walk around the town, I saw the shops by the name of foreign countries. Sakura alluminium shop, a boutique by the name of Kimono and Beauty saloons by the name of Singapore, Chingmai, Hong Kong are among them. (Kimura Kenichi)

Thailand Exhibition 2000 organized by the Department of Export Promotion was opened the Tatmadaw Convention Centre on 30th November. On display at 144 booths of the exhibition are auto-parts, chemicals, articles, electrical appliances, food stuff, furniture and so on. It will be last till 3rd December.
