Summer has come in Yangon. It was almost 30 degree Celsius at night at my residence. This term, a lot of ants are abnormally appeared in Yangon. We are also agonizing over for them. Although we keep some food in the kitchen a few minutes, ants swarm on it.

The movie, "Star Wars EPISODE 1" was on at the theatres in Yangon today. The theatres were not crowded for videotapes of this movie are easily available at rental shops.

Karaoke restaurant are on the increase these days. Karaoke was first introduced into Myanmar a few years ago. Many restaurants and beer gardens have Karaokes. The Myanmar seems to sing karaoke songs increasingly.

According to official newspaper, The Central Bank of Myanmar will put into new coins into circulation. The coins are of five kinds- 100Kyats, 50Kyats, 10Kyats, 5Kyats and 1Kyat.

37th Myanmar Gems Emporium is being held in Myanmar Gems Museum starting from 11th March 2000. A total of 824 gem merchants of 215 companies from 29 are attending the emporium.

There will be a festival for Muslims tomorrow. It is a public holiday. Muslim are preparing for celebrations. They usually offer heads of cows and sheep to their god Allah. And then they will eat the meat. A cow costs are 100,000Kyats and a sheep 10,000Kyats.

The opening ceremony of Ngwe Hsaung Beach Resort was held at the resort yesterday. It is located in the west coast of Myanmar and only 29 miles from Pathein. Now 18 hotels have been constructed. It is the fourth beach resort.

According to Journal, GSM(Global System for Mobiles) will be introduced into Myanmar from next month. At first, 100,000 numbers of phones will be made available in Yangon and Mandalay. A phone will be sold at 500,000. At present, there are more than 225,000 ordinary telephones and 10,000 cellular mobile phones in Myanmar.

There is a rumor that a new airline will fly to Mandalay. Angel Airline, thai company will flight from Chiang-Rai Thailand to Mandalay. The airline office has not opened yet in Myanmar.

Recently, there were flight delays and cancellations in domestic airways, Yangon Airways and Air Mandalay. So you should avoid connecting them on the same day of your departure from Myanmar by International Airlines.

"Official papers carried a report on "MV ThanLwin". "MV ThanLwin", a 440 passenger capacity ship of Myanmar Five Star Line was commissioned into service yesterday. Chinese company in Shanghai made it; accommodate 12 passengers in the first class, 28 in the second class, 400 in the ordinary class. The coastal liner has the capacity to extend runs to neighboring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia. Some type of ship, "Chindwin" will be handed over in October.
