A Letter to Japan At that time, the coldness of the sun was turned into the hotness of the sun. The temperature had risen considerably. Yesterday was a full moon day (Full moon day, February) and there was a festival called Tabodue Full moon day. At that festival, we had Htamanae or glutinous rice. First, Let's study the making of this food. Kaukhnyin or glutinous rice is pounded and after a little time cooking oil and groundnuts are added. I'm wondering that whether it can be called cooking or blending. And such a kind of cooking. Later, man has to be hard- working to do this kind of work. The preparation of this food is used with too much oil. After drying it up, glutinous rice has to be mixed up thoroughly. It is very tasty. I taste the piece of Htamamae given by a student. It has so many ingredients & I cannot quench my desire to eat it. It is an interesting custom for Myanmar people. Let's get down to our main point. I'm planning to go back to my nature country. For one thing, After working at the Foreign Language University, Mandalay, I have decided to work for a man who asked for my help. There is a difficulty in an Airline. There is a close friend who has been working at ANA Airline. He is always helping me until now. At the end of the month a direct flight from Yangon has been canceled. In future we need a negotiation about it really. The next problem is an electric power failure (blackout) in Yangon. So the beauty of sunset is the period of evening just before setting the sun. I think it may be true. During the two years, the UFL students will be directly influenced. The Myanmar teacher who teaches Japanese may have been destined to the teaching profession. I have a faith in doing so and it has helped me out. Since the UFL, Mandalay has been founded, there are mostly young tutors there. Concerning the fact, we can see there are many placid volunteers nowadays. It a place changes, things can also change. Likewise, Yangon and Mandalay have different practices. I hear that all along. In other words, the Myanmar people may need to be instructed to make them understand effectively. I'm thinking about it gathering my inquisitive mind. © Suzuki Yoshio |
