A Village Beyond The River
by Kenichi Kimura

Sometimes I would like to go to a village with green paddy fields, which I can have fresh air out of Yangon, which is crowded with a population of 4 million.

It is a few mites from Yangon. People, buildings, cars and things can be seen at its center as if things are piled up. At that time there were no mentions about the village in the guidebook. That village is none other than Dalah.

Dalah is on the opposite side of the Strand Road, which is known as "Kan nar-lan".

As there is no bridge between Dalah and Yangon if one wants to go to Dalah he can go there by ferries. The fare is 5 kyats for a person, but foreign visitors have to pay one dollar for the fare. One can also hire 15 people. -ride ferries at 10 kyats to go there.

There are no big and fine buildings in Dalah. When it is getting dark one can see Shwedagon Pagoda which is it with colored lights.

There is no other place like Dalah in this world just at the other side of the river. Dalah looks like a village near Shinjuku Town in Japan.

If you have time for creation you can go there to take a rest by ferries at 5 kyats.
