Great Myanmar Trip -Part2-
by Mamama

On 17th of March, the second day in Pagan, I made free day. That was right. There was a puzzle in my head because I had visited many pagodas the day before.

Although I saw the photographs, I could not distinguish their names. I said that I needed revision. But I made a mistake. That was going to bed after telling, "Let us sleep for an hour." Accidentally I had slept deeply. Even I fell from my bed. I got black and bruises. It was four o'clock in the morning when my eyes opened.

In other day, I was fastidious. But at that day, I got up early and said, 'Let us go.' From hotel, I knew where the pagoda on which we could see sunrise, was. I walked in the dark making a latter. After 30 minutes, we arrived Ywahaungyi Pagoda. It was situated one kilo from Arnandar Pagoda, southern side of main road. (By the way, let me say that this pagoda was not included in guidebook.)

I thought that the caretakers of the pagodas lived nearby. Their agents likely lived near. When we arrived there, a girl with torchlight in her hand was waiting us. We had not known from where she came out. He was good-natured. When the battery in the touch was used up, she gave us a new one. She frequently shuffled from home to the pagoda jumping over the fence. When we looked in the eastern entrance, there were a lot of dunghills of the bat. "Ala! I'll have to take off my shoe." I gulped my saliva. With the aid of torchlight, I climbed up a narrow ladder on the right and got on the terrace. When we reached on the third step, we could see far away. This Pagoda was situated in the North. So Dhamayangyi Pagoda in the south like a big pyramid, Arnandar Pagoda which was a golden bell-shaped, and Shwesettan pagoda which was white, could be seen from this Pagoda. The view was very beautiful and elegant. There was no pilgrim except us. I thought that it was the best place to look and feel sunrise of old Pagan oneself.

There was a little dew. If was not as much as I expected. The san rose only at 6:30 a.m. I took out a telescope and stood for a while. Then I sat in the manner of meditation for three hours.

During that time, the girl with a torch in the hand had been sitting nearby. She embarrassed us. So I gesticulated to lend her torchlight to me. However she did not understand. Therefore we were sitting for a long time chewing the sweets made with green Shan crabapple and padauk leaf. As the sun rose higher, we went down.
