After a little delay, the train left from Yangon station for Mandalay. Ho! Ho! Marvellous! The seat was wide and comfortable. It was fortunate that I had not ridden the bus.
Photo 1 Yangon station in the evening

I had been busy with looking at the surrounding since the start of the train.
Ebi "Look the man carrying many pillows in U-shape'
These are invented and manufactured for used on the trip."

Husband "They are to lend. Look! It is 25 kyats for a night."
There were many book lenders who arrived frequently. That gave us a different interest from other south East Asia countries. Posters of Buddha images were stuck in front of every coach. It was the Buddhist's country indeed. However, the face of the image was rather strange. Probably, it would be so because of overwhelming of Shiva from Hinduism. In the later time, the images we saw were the same. They looked faint.

The train began to reveal its real status. It shook and vibrated. It could be compared with a hanger boat, which passed Yangon where these was no air. The shaking of the train I was riding, was like a motorboat, which passed a defile. (I beg your pardon for my difficult example)
We were about to fly in the air.
Husband "I don't know what would happen to the train. It may slip"
Ebi "Oho!"
On the train shaking more than normal. Husband and Ebi were laughing whenever they jumped up owing to the shaking of the train.
Bump! Bump! Ha! Ha!
Photo 2 These were drinking water-sellers at every station. The pots on their heads looked nice. They were baked in the natural way.

As soon as the night fell, an important problem appeared. It was the cold. Especially in this year, Myanmar was cold. The cold in the morning and night was like the winter in Japan. The sweater and jacket, which had been worn since we were in Japan, became useless.

I began to search for the things, which could prevent us from the cold. But I stopped when I realized that I had not carried them. The travelers in front of us carried the rugs from their home. 'Oh, I wished I had known about this. Finally, the materials, which I considered as much as I could, were towels and T-shirts. I wrapped the towels around my neck. My kneels were tied with T-shirt. We the couple, looked awkward. It would be good if there were rug-lenders like pillow-lenders. "Please, help us trying to get a rug. We'll give 10$ for rug, now."

It was money that made us worry more. In the previous day, the miser changed the money a little. So we found many problems. "I'm hungry" but we were not able to buy any food.
Husband "I have after thought that you are not a person who knows how to prepare before doing something."
Ebi "She is your wife, isn't she?"
What a pity? We had to continue our lives by eating food shared by a man, who sat aside, he was a Myanmar.
Photo 3 The same view we saw along the road.

Thus the couple passed the wild, rough, difficult and interesting night. The arrival time was near.
Husband "Are we arriving, soon? Look! Where are we arriving?"
Ebi: "It will be better if we don't look at the map"
However hard we looked we had not reached even half of the journey. Him! When will we arrive there? The train stopped frequently along the road. At down the cold became lighter. It was hunger and shaking which were uncharged.
While Ebi was thinking that the uncle in front was eating the food eagerly, he turned and gave. Oh! I wondered if he could practise Telepathy.
Photo 4 Please wait patiently. Be aware the departure of the train. Take caution because the train starts suddenly.

Although it was the train which gave us special training, it was right that we had taken this train. We could see the bullock carts, which were crawling on the red earthen path. Fields were full of Sunflowers to the horizon. Sometimes, a pagoda appeared in the middle of the field. However long did we look, we were never weary.

Moreover these were no train in Japan, which could gibe high tension only by riding. For example, it would take 24 hours for a 14 hour-journey. When we arrived at Mandalay, the time was over 6 o'clock in the evening. What a ridiculous train to Mandalay!
Photo 5 The uncle who was more childish than children. He gave us food and Tiffin with cur.
