Taxi from Yangon airport to downtown |
There is a taxi counter at the airport. It costs 7 dollars to go to downtown. Although the taxis do not have air conditioners, a visitor can go to the hotel or to downtown in peace of mind because the prices are fixed and no need to compromise the price. If you want to take a cheaper taxi, there are brokers calling passengers outside the airport. It will ever cheaper to hire a taxi going on the road outside the airport.

Yangon half day sightseeing recommend |
| This is special recommend for visitors who have no time to visit country site. The trip can be made during half day. You can have a look at typical Myanmar country site and pottery work.
First, you have to cross Yangon river by ferry from Pansodan Jetty to Dala. The fare is 1 US dollar. If you hire a jeep, it costs 2000 kyats a single trip. It costs 50 kyats by bus. The bus leaves if it is full of passengers. There are many buses, it is easy to take one. On the way to Twantay, you can see Chinese temple which has changed and a pagoda in a silent lake. You can have directions to whereabouts of pottery work at trishaw men. If you take trishaws it costs 200 kyats. If the someone acts as a volunteer guide, tip him or her 200 kyats. It will be OK. I started at 7 am and arrive back to downtown at 12:00.

| Master Card cannot use in Myanmar now. And Travellers check can use only a few Hotels and souvenior shop. There is only one bank in Yangon to change to US$ cash from Travellers check and it might be a great deal of troubl to change to cash. It's better bring US$ cash in Myanmar. |

Some visitors might take local train for sightseeing. I took it when I first visited Myanmar. It was about four years ago. I could not go up to Mingalardon. I had to get off the train after 40 to 50 minutes' ride because my hips became hurt. In fact I love riding a vehicle of any kind. Japan-made railbuses run three times a day at present.
This is the best to ride among railway lines in Myanmar. It took only one hour to a destination in surburb of Yangon. We recommend that train which is called RBC officially. You can enquire it saying "the train from Japan". Of the six carriages, two are made in Japan. But, it was a bit noisy to ride in these carriages. The remaining forr carriages are made in 2003 in South Korea. You can take a ride in these carriages quietly.

How to go to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda |
| Yesterday, We went to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda on daytrip. We left from Yangon by rental car and arrived to Kyaikhto with 4 hrs including had a breakfast time 30 minutes & a little rest in Bago.
We paid entrance fees of town US$ 6 per person as foreigners. And then, transit in Kyaikhto and we arrived at foot of a hill, the base camp (Kinmunsakhan) in 40 minutes by special trucks (150Kyats/1 person). When full of passengers in this truck, it left to top of the hill of Kyaikhtiyo. If you wish to ride beside the driver seat, (Cockpit room) you will give more 50 Kyats than usually prize. But the monk is given priority. You should take a seat which can see the forest scenery.
The distance from the base camp (Kinmunsakhan) to Pagoda is within one hour on foot. Although it can visit by car, most of the travelers go on foot to want to see the forest scenery.
We thought that it's enough to go to Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda with the day. I want to warn you, don't forget to bring your passport. Because you will show your passport at exit gate of Yangon and entrance gates at other concerning towns. You do bring your passport.
